A Royal Celebration: King Charles’ Coronation for Nagoya Eikaiwa Students
Hello, dear students of Connect Eikaiwa School in Imaike, Nagoya! Did you watch the coronation of King Charles III? It was watched by about 400 million people worldwide! If you’re interested in British culture, it’s a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself while you learn English.
The coronation happened on Saturday, 6th May at Westminster Abbey in London. This special event was the first coronation in 70 years. The ceremony was a mix of ancient and modern traditions. It was shorter and smaller than Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation in 1953. People in the UK had an extra day off work on Monday, 8th May to celebrate.

There were many exciting things happening during the coronation weekend. London and Windsor had parades and parties on Friday, 5th May. On Sunday, 7th May, communities across the UK had a big lunch called The Coronation Big Lunch to share food and celebrate.
