Our school is in the Imaike area but where did the name ‘Imaike’ come from? Near Imaike Station exit 7 there is a statue that gives us a clue about its origin. The monument is of a family of three horses. It is said that this area once had a pond where horses would come to drink and wash themselves. This lake was called ‘Umaike’ or ‘Horse Pond’. Over time the pronunciation of ‘Umaike’ gradually changed and it eventually became ‘Imaike’.
